Siddikur shares 31st slot in Maybank Championship

Bangladeshi celebrity golfer Siddikur Rahman shared the 31st slot with 16 other players in the Maybank Championship Malaysia after the first round at Royal Selangor Golf Club court, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
Siddikur scored two-under-par (69), five shots behind from the topper Nathan Holman of Australia who scored seven-under-par (64).
Playing six-under-par (65) each, six players– Angelo Que of Philippine, Danny Willett of England, Tommy Fleetwood of England, Peter Uihlein of USA, Alexander Levy of France and Jorge Campillo of Spain — shared the 2nd slot.
Siddikur, the lone Bangladeshi golfer in the US$3,000,000 tournament played four birdies and two bogies in the first round.
Siddikur birdied in the 3rd hole and an unfortunate bogey in the 7th hole to complete the first session. He tuned his form in the second session playing two successive birdies to put the 10th and 11th holes. Siddikur again birdied in the 13th hole and finished the session with a bogey in the 18th hole.
Siddikur struggling with his game in 2016 as he was dismally finished joint 35th in the 2nd Bashundhara Bangladesh Open that concluded on February 13.
Ahead of the tournament, Siddikur expressed his hope to regain his form through this tournament saying, “I’m struggling a bit with my game right now; Sportsmen have bad time with ups and down, I believe I’ll get back to my best form soon,” he said to Asia Tour On Tuesday.
