Employment opportunities of sailors expanding: Shipping Miniser

Chittagong Bureau :Shipping Minister Md. Shahjahan Khan MP said the job opportunities of the sailors of National Maritime Institute(NMI) are being expanded following the govt initiatives taken recently.The successful trainees of sailors from govt NMI will get better changes of jobs abroad in coming days. In the meantime, Singapore based Ocean Tanker company has increased employment quota from 4.5% to 15% in their flag vessels. He disclosed it while visiting the march past of the 3rd batch of NMI, Chittagong as chief guest on Thursday. The minister said in the meantime, shipping companies of five foreign countries recently visited the NMI after govt’s intitiatives of sailors employment and very shortly a marketing group of NMI will visit Iran and Iraq , he added. He said for accommodations of the trainee sailors, a large accommodation unit and a fire fighting block are being built within the NMI campus .He hoped the sailors of the country will uphold the status and dignity of the country abroad through rendering their better services. In 3rd batch of the NMI, 157 sailors completed their training. Minister also distributed medals to the successful sailors. Among others Principal of NMI Captain Faisal Azim spoke on the occasion.
