Miscreants snatches away Tk 9 lakh in Rangpur

A gang of miscreants snatched away Tk 9 lakh in the broad daylight on Sunday from a sales representative of a medicine company in front of District Education Office in Rangpur city. According to witnesses and police Md. Nazim, a sales representative at Rangpur office of Renata Pharmaceuticals Company Ltd was returning his office in the city with the money collected from the selling of medicine at about 2 pm. When he reached in front of District Education Office also near of DIG office a gang of muggers intercepted his motorcycle and snatched away Tk 9 lakh from his possession by throwing chilli powder into his eyes and fled the spot immediately. A case was filed in this regard. Officer in-Charge of Rangpur Kotwali Police Station Shahabuddin Khalifa said, they have launched the drive to arrest the hoodlums.
Sylhet city police withdraw 2 cops

The Kotwali police station afternoon withdrew two police personnel in the face of protest by the transport workers on Thursday. Eyewitnesses said the local truck drivers and their assistants laid siege to the Kotwali police station at around 2:30pm to push for withdrawing an assistant subinspector Anwar Hossain and a constable Mohammad Hanif who allegedly tortured a truck driver and his assistant in the city failing to extort money from then in bribe.
In the face truckers’ agitation, the police authorities withdrew the two police personnel from the Bandarbazar outpost in the city, sources in the police said. Kotwali police officer-in-charge Ataur Rahman told that punitive step would be taken against the police personnel if the allegation was proved true.
4 arrested in Joypurhat
JOYPURHAT: Police in an overnight drive on Sunday arrested 14 people in connection with several criminal cases from different areas of five upazilas of the district. Superintendent of Police Hamidul Alam said separate teams of police conducted separate drives in Sadar, Panchbibi, Khetlal, Kalai and Akkelpur upazilas from Sunday midnight to early Monday and arrested the 14. The arrestees include five from Sadar, three from Kalai, two each from Panchbibi and Khetlal, and one from Akkelpur upazila, reports UNB.
Man killed in Kushtia clash
KUSHTIA: A man was killed and 12 people injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over establishing dominance in the area at Char Chapra village in Kumarkhali upazila on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Ainal Haque, 45, a resident of the village. Quoting locals, police said supporters of local Akbar Ali Member and Nehar Ali-Bodi Hossain groups had long been at loggerheads over establishing their dominance in the area. An altercation ensued between the two groups and later it led to a clash. A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee that left Ainal dead on the spot and 12 people injured. Mofizuddin Ahmed, Superintendent of Kushtia Police, confirmed the incident saying a drive has been launched to arrest the culprits, reports UNB.
