Two wounded in attack by robbers in Jessore

Two people were wounded in an attack carried out by a number of robbers at Niribili area in Chaugachha upazila headquarters early Monday. The wounded Akhtarul Islam Lentu, 40 and Jahurul Islam, 25 of Chaugachha upazila headquarters were rushed to Chaugachha upazila health complex. Jahurul was shifted to Jessore Medical College Hospital with critical injuries. Locals and the police said house owner Akhtarul Islam and his neighbour Jahurul were wounded as the robbers attacked them with sharp weapons at dead night.
The robbers, earlier, entered into the house identifying them as police men. The robbers swooped on the house owner and the neighbour as they tried to catch the robbers. Ilias Hossain, officer in-charge, Chaugachha police station told that the police rushed to the spot after being informed by the locals.
Amal Fair ends in Jessore

The two -day Amal Fair, marking the 13th anniversary of death of Tebhaga Movement leader Amal Sen ended on Monday . The fair was kicked off at the ground of Bankri Government Primary School under Bagharpara upazila in Jessore on Sunday. Amal Sen, founder president of Workers Party of Bangladesh was born at the residence of his maternal uncle at Auria in Narail on July 19, 1914 and died at Dhaka Community Hospital on 17th January, 2003. Elaborated programmes were chalked out to mark the death anniversary of the late leader. The programmes include placing of floral wreath at the grave, discussions, cultural sessions and a two -day fair. Nazrul Islam chaired the discussion on the second day while it was addressed among Badyanath Biswas, Ashim Kumar Biswas, Mizanur Rahman, Bippul Biswas and Rabiul Islam.
MPO listed teachers form human chain in Gouripur

 MPO listed teachers in Gouripur Upazila in Mymensingh district formed a human chain, followed by a rally in front of Shaheed Harun Park in the town on Monday to press home their demands and demonstrated demanding implementation of 8th national pay scale as early as possible. Bangladseh Shikhhak Samity, Gouripur Upazila Unit arranged the programme and it was joined by over 1000 teachers of different high schools and madrasas. The human chain was addressed by Bangladseh Shikhhak Samity, Gouripur Upazila unit President Md. Anamul Haq Sarkar , General Secretary Md Azizul Haq and among others spoke during the human chain. Speakers at the human chain said that they would go for tougher movement if their demands were not fulfilled . They also criticized the present discriminatory payment system among the employees of government and private educational institutions. They demanded prime minister’s intervention to end the discrimination in education sector while they submitted a memorandum to the UNO.
Schoolgirl killed in Sylhet road crash
SYLHET: A schoolgirl was crushed under the wheels of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Ballah village in Jakiganj upazila on Monday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Majeda Akhter Popy, son of Abdul Baset, a resident of the village and a class III student of Ballah Government Primary School. Witnesses said the accident took place at the village as the auto-rickshaw ran over Popy while she was returning from her school in the afternoon, leaving her critically injured. Later she was rushed to Jakiganj health complex where she succumbed to her injuries at night, reports UNB.
