Jamaat leader held in Sylhet

Police arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami in Guaingahat upazila of the Sylhet on sonday evening. The arrestee is Dr. Mustajim Ali, Guaingahat upazila Jamaat Leader, Guaingahat police said a team of police arrested Dr. Mustajim Ali from in front of Bondor Bazar at about 5.00pm. The Jamaat leader was wanted by police in Fourteen cases.

The newly-posted Deputy Commissioner Asraf Uddin has exchanged view with local elite , teachers, freedom fighters and journalists in upazila nirbahi office premises under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district on Monday. The view exchange meeting was presided over by UNO Shahed Parvej while freedom fighter commander Adul Mazid, principal of Jahanara Kamruzzaman Degree collage Abdul Mazid, president of corruption committee Gaziur Rahman, president of citizen committee Abdul Based, manager of sonali bank Abdul Hannan, secretary of AL upazila unit Fazlul Haque, president of AL upazila unit Mizanur Rahman Khan Selim, President of Dupchanchia press club Golam Faruq, Vice chairman Shokhina Begum, secretary of rice mill Abdur Razak, Dupchanchia municipality mayor Belal Hossain, Talota municipality mayor Abdul Jajil and officer-in-charge Gopal Chandro Chocrobarty were speaking in the function based on the local problems of the citizens. In the meeting DC said, “We have to work together for the improvement of our motherland as the socio-economic condition is not perfect here in the upazila let alone the district.” “We should come forward in the distress of others immediately without any subterfuge.” he added.
Sarabangla Krishok Jote announces its agenda for farmers

Sarabangla Krishok Jote has announced its agenda demanding rights of the farmers at a press conference held at Rangpur press Club on Tuesday. They also announced the name of its full committee of twelve members. Speaking on the occasion General Secretary of Sara Bangla Krishok Jot Obaidul Haque said they formed the organisation in order to establish the rights of the farmers.The main objective of the organisation is to empower the small Peasants organisations so that they can be the shareholder of all the wealth of the government including development and investment programme. The task of the organisation is to make a bridge between the small and marginal farmers associations and thus work by sharing each others experience, he further said. The association also put emphasis on ensuring the rights of the farmers, proper marketing facilities and fair price of agri-products. Among others President of Sara Bangla Krishok Jot Abdul Zabbar, its Vice President Ohidul Islam, Joint Secretary Nasir Uddin, Organising Secretary Abdul Mannan and Treasurer Azizar Rahman were also present on the occasion.
