3 dacoits held in Sylhet with looted material

Moglabazar police arrested two dacoits on Saturday and Sunday. They are Yasin Ali alias Kala Babul (38) , son of late Murtuz Ali Chaitannagonj village under Komalgonj Moulobibazar district, Sumon Ahmed alias (36) son of A Ahad Daulatpur village. According to their information police arrested Korjon Ali (22) son of Azmol Ali Nischintopur village under Dakshin Surma Upazila on Sunday. Police Seized cash TK 10,500 ornament worth Tk 80,000/- Mobile Phone hand gloves, torch used for dacoity. Karzon ali is running business of stolen gold. Arrested are involved with some dacoity in Moglabazar area.
Betel leaf , sugarcane worth Tk 10 lakh gutted

Betel- leaf and sugarcane on one and a half acres of land was gutted at Saliaka village under Kaliganj upazila in Jhenaidah on Sunday afternoon. The loss was estimated primarily for Taka 10 lakh by the fire service and civil defense authority in Kaliganj. Locals and affected farmers said, the fire was shown in the betel leaf plot owned by some Amirul Islam at about 2.00 PM that spread faster with the favourable wind during the time. It had gutted the betel leaf and sugarcane of the farmers Amirul Islam, Abdul Alim, Khokan, Rabiul Islam and Israil Hossain of the village. Affected farmer Amirul Islam said, the total betel leaf and sugarcane on his 15 decimals of land was gutted fully which could not be recovered any way. Kaliganj fire service and civil defense station manager Amiya Kumar said, the fire was brought under control before arrival of the fire fighters.
Two jailed , one fined for carrying Jatka in Barisal

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) unit -8 seized 200 mounds Jatka and a truck (Dhaka-Da-11-4627) from Rupatali area, and detained three persons on Monday morning. `The truck was carrying illegally netted Jatka (Hilsa fries) fish and was going to Madaripur from Galacipa under Patuakhali district’ said Md. Shahin, deputy assistant director (DAD) of RAB-8. Bimal Chandra Das, Barisal district fishery officer (Hilsa), said according to fishery act, netting, marketing Jatka, (Hilsa fries less than ten-inch in length) prohibited. So the arrestees produced before the mobile court led by Nazmul Hossain Khan, executive magistrate and assistant commissioner (Land) of district. The Mobile court sentenced Khokon Gaji, 38, lineman of truck, to 18-month imprisonment, Masum, 32 driver of the truck to 13-month imprisonment and fined 5 thousand taka to Rakib 25, helper of the truck. The seized jatka distributed among the orphanages, the district fishery officer told.
Arms, ammunition recovered in Chapainawabganj

Members of Border Guard Battalion (BGB) recovered one pistol, two magazines and four bullets from Chouko border point in Shibganj upazila on Monday. Tipped off, a team of the border force challenged a man for his suspicious movement in the area around 11am, said Lt Col SM Abul Ahsan, commander of Chapainawabganj BGB battalion-9. Sensing danger, he fled the scene leaving behind a bag. Later, the BGB members recovered one pistol, two magazines and four bullets from the bag.
Drug trader held with Yaba in Naogaon
NAOGAON: Police arrested an alleged drug trader along with 600 pieces of Yaba tablet at Kalitola in the district town on Monday night. The arrestee was identified as Ashish Das, 51, son of Raghunath Das, a resident of the area. Tipped off, a police team raided a house in the area at night and arrested Ashish along with the Yaba tablets worth TK 1.2 lakh, said Md Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station, reports UNB.
