BCL leader arrested, fire arms seized in Jessore

Kotwali police arrested Mahbub Milon, Vice -President, Jessore District Unit Chhatra League from inside Nilratan Dhar Road based zonal office of Bangladesh Krishi Bank on charge of attempting to shoot a client on Saturday. Confirming the information assistant sub inspector Tariqul told that a short-gun was recovered from the possession of Milon from Krishi Bank over sudden feud with clients. Shahabuddin Alam, executive editor, Daily Satyapath, in a complaint filed with Kotwali police station stated that Milon attempted to shoot him as he protested the act of Milon.Iqbal Kabir Jahid, publisher of the daily and also polit bureau member, Workers Party of Bangladesh told that he heard the information. Ariful Islam Riyad, president, Jessore district unit, BCL confirmed that the arrested is vice- president of the student wing of the ruling party.
Adolescents’ bicycle rally against social curses in Thakurgaon
RANGPUR: Hundreds of adolescents brought out a bicycle rally in Thakurgaon district town this afternoon to raise awareness against child marriage, dowry, sexual harassment, drug abuse, militancy and superstition. Eco Social Development Organisation (ESDO), Polli Karma Sohayok Foundation (PKSF) and Thakurgaon District Community Policing Committee with assistance of local administration organised the event to build a society free from all sorts of social curses. Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police for Rangpur Range Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir, Thakurgaon Police Super Farhat Ahmed, Director of Thakurgaon 30 BGB Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Tushar Bin Yunus, Deputy General Manager of PKSF AHM Abdul Kaiyum, Divisional Manager of Plan International Bangladesh Abdul Kuddus were present in the inaugural ceremony. With Executive Director of ESDO Dr Md Saiduzzaman in the chair, government and non-government officials, teachers and female students of different schools and colleges, guardians, civil society members and socio-cultural activists attended the ceremony. Speakers on the occasion laid emphasis on eliminating child marriage, dowry, sexual harassment, drug abuse and militancy to ensure female education and establish peace in the society for further speeding up national development, reports BSS.
New road to be constructed in Rajshahi city
RAJSHAHI: A new road will be constructed in the city in order to make it free from traffic congestion besides smooth pedestrian movement. The 2.5-kilometer four-lane road from Kolpona crossing to Talaimary crossing will be constructed with an estimated cost of around Taka 127.50 crore. Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) will implement the project having provision of drain and footpath on both sides of the road.RCC authority inaugurated the construction works at a simple function held at Ramchandrapur area on Saturday. Former Mayor of RCC AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the ceremony as the chief guest with sitting acting mayor Nizam-ul Azim in the chair. Panel Mayor Rashedul Hassan, Ward Councilor Arman Ali, Chief Engineer Ashraful Haque, Superintending Engineer Khairul Bashar and Executive Engineer Nur Islam also spoke on the occasion, reports BSS.
Construction of Taltola-Vajni road launched
PANCHAGARH: Construction of the six-kilometer Taltola-Vajni road in Debiganj upazila of the district was launched here on Tuesday noon. Local lawmaker Advocate Nurul Islam Sujon formally inaugurated the construction of the road on the premises of Taltola Government Primary School. Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is implementing the project at a cost of Taka 3 crore. Debiganj Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Hasnat Zaman Chowdhury, Debiganj Upazila Engineer Md Samim Akter, Upazila Awami League President A.S.M. Nuruzzaman and leaders and activists of local Awami League were present on the occasion, reports BSS.
