Newly elected council of Sylhet Women Chamber takes charge

The meeting was presided over by the newly elected president Lubana Yasmin Shampa presided over and newly elected director Rehana Afroz Khan conducted the meeting.

At the time, the chief guest said, from March 13 of this year, I was assigned the responsibility as the administrator of Sylhet Women Chamber by an order of the Ministry of Commerce and on March 19, I officially took charge. After taking charge, my only goal was to make this largest platform of women entrepreneurs in Sylhet a women-friendly one. That is why I held meetings with the council members after the meeting. I took two initiatives from the meeting to increase the membership activities. This program was relevant to organize a smooth, impartial and festive event. In continuation of this, 274 voters elected the biennial board of directors of the Women’s Chamber in a festive atmosphere through their direct votes. She said, on the eve of taking charge of the council today, the expectation is that this institution should become a milestone for women entrepreneurs in Sylhet. All the activities of the elected council should play a leading role in creating women entrepreneurs. Later, she formally took charge of the newly elected council.
Meanwhile, in a reaction after taking charge, the newly elected vice president Aleya Ferdousi Tuli said, today is a different day in the history of Women’s Chambers. Where for the first time an elected council has officially taken charge of its responsibilities. She said, the scope and activities of this institution will expand further in the future. Along with this, the number of voters will increase. At the same time, the steps we have taken should serve as a guide for all marginalized women entrepreneurs in Sylhet – that is the path of the new council.
Newly elected president Lubana Yasmin Shampa said, this is the first election in the Sylhet Women Chamber since its establishment in a festive atmosphere. Although there was competition in this election, there was no revenge. There was a joyful atmosphere among voters of all classes. There is no way to deny the contribution of everyone in maintaining this atmosphere. This trend must be continued in the future as well. She expressed her gratitude to the administrator, election management board, district administrator and everyone related to the district administrator’s office for making the election successful and peaceful. Lubana Yasmin said, today, at this joyful moment, our promise will be, this council will rise above party opinion and work to implement all its action plans for the welfare of women entrepreneurs in Sylhet.
