Every day, cases of infection with this variant are increasing in different parts of the country. Although no significant impact has been seen in Sylhet so far, this time two infected with the new variant have been identified there.
So far, it has been learned that both the infected are undergoing treatment at Shaheed Shamsuddin Hospital in Sylhet. One of them is in critical condition and has been kept in the ICU.
According to the Sylhet divisional information of the Directorate General of Health, one of the infected is a woman and the other is a man. The male patient is 80 years old and his condition is the worst. One of them was admitted to the hospital on Friday and the other on Sunday (June 15).
Sylhet Divisional Health Director Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman said that one of the infected people is from Sunamganj and the other is from Sylhet city. However, he also mentioned that there is no need to panic about the situation in Sylhet.
He also said, I urge everyone to be aware. Use hand sanitizer, avoid crowds and make sure to wear masks. Awareness will ensure our safety.
