The government has introduced new uniforms for the police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and Ansar in a bid to modernize the appearance of Bangladesh’s law enforcement agencies.
The announcement was made on Monday by Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury following a meeting of the Law and Order Committee at the Secretariat.
“The designs for the new uniforms have been finalized, and they will be implemented gradually, replacing the current attire over time,” said the adviser.
The new uniforms feature distinct colors for each force:
- Police: Iron
- RAB: Green Olive
- Ansar: Golden Wheat
Addressing concerns about costs, the adviser reassured that the transition would not impose a significant financial burden. “The process will be budget-friendly and carried out systematically,” he said.
The initiative aligns with the government’s broader efforts to enhance the professionalism, image, and functionality of the country’s law enforcement agencies.
Officials noted that the updated uniforms aim to strengthen the identity of the individual forces and improve morale among personnel. The transition is expected to be completed in phases, with careful attention to operational continuity.
