Bangladesh Police is set to unveil its long-awaited new uniforms on November 15, ushering in an “iron-coloured” era for officers serving in metropolitan and specialized units.
Assistant Inspector General (Media) AHM Sahadat Hossain on Thursday confirmed that members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), and specialized branches including the Highway Police, River Police, and Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) will be the first to adopt the redesigned attire.
“The new uniforms—iron-coloured with a distinct, modern look—will be ready for use by November 15. Initially, they will be introduced in metropolitan and specialized units, with range and district police to follow in phases,” Hossain said.
The decision to update the uniforms of Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) was approved on January 20, 2025, as part of a comprehensive reform initiative introduced in the aftermath of the July Mass Uprising.
Officials said the new design aims to project a modern, professional image for the force while reflecting a renewed commitment to transparency and accountability.
