The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner, Md Mainul Hassan, has transferred 13 police inspectors to the position of Officer-in-Charge (OC) at various police stations across Dhaka.

This move follows the removal of all OCs in Dhaka after the previous government failed to maintain order, resulting in vacancies that are now being filled.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, DMP Commissioner Mainul Hassan signed and issued two separate office orders regarding these appointments.

Among the appointed officers, Police Inspector Azharul Islam was initially informed on Tuesday that he would be posted to Shahbagh Police Station in the capital. However, a revised order on Wednesday reassigned him to Khilkhet Police Station.

The other newly appointed OCs include Mohammad Taifur Rahman Mirza at Dakshinkhan Police Station, Mohammad Nazrul Islam at Pallabi Police Station, Md. Tauhid Ahmed at Gulshan Police Station, Mohammad Mazharul Islam at Bhatara Police Station, Ghulam Farooq at Ramna Police Station, Mullah Md. Khalid Hossain at Paltan Police Station, Md. Saiful Islam at Badda Police Station, Ershad Ahmed at Airport Police Station, Muhammad Monirul Islam at Mirpur Model Police Station, Md. Mobarak Hossain at Tejgaon Police Station, Md. Hafizur Rahman at Uttara Paschim Police Station, and Mohammad Anwar Hossain at Dhanmondi Police Station
While Azharul Islam was initially designated to Shahbagh Police Station, the revised order placed him at Khilkhet Police Station, effectively cancelling his previous transfer order.

This reshuffling comes in the wake of significant changes within the police force following the government’s fall on 5 August.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, who served as Inspector General of Police during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure, was removed the following day and replaced by Moynul Islam, Commandant of the Traffic and Driving School.

Additionally, on 7 August, the Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Harun-or-Rashid, was replaced by Additional IGP AKM Shahidur Rahman, marking another key change within the elite force.
The entire police department is currently undergoing major restructuring.
