The new Election Commission (EC), headed by former secretary AMM Nasir Uddin, is set to take the oath of office on Sunday.
Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed is scheduled to administer the oath to the new chief election commissioner and four commissioners at 1:30 pm, according to several sources from the Supreme Court on Friday.
The previous commission, led by Kazi Habibul Awal, resigned on 5 September, following the removal of the Awami League government.
Two and a half months later, on Thursday, President Mohammed Sahabuddin appointed a new five-member Election Commission under the leadership of AMM Nasir Uddin.
The new commission also includes former additional secretary Anwarul Islam Sarker, former district and sessions judge Abdur Rahman Masud, former joint secretary Tahmida Ahmad, and Brigadier General (Retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah as commissioners.
