The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has directed officials to submit the demand for textbooks for the 9th and 10th grades for the 2025 academic year.

The directive, issued on Monday, emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring the timely printing and distribution of free textbooks to all students across the country by 1 January for the upcoming academic year.

To accomplish this, all district, upazila, and thana secondary education offices under the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) are required to provide ongoing support, from submitting textbook demands to ensuring their delivery to students.

As in previous years, the demand for textbooks from grades six to ten at the secondary level (Bangla and English versions), along with Dakhil, SSC, and Dakhil Vocational levels for the 2025 academic year, has been collected online via a web application.

However, in accordance with the government’s decision, students in grades nine and ten will continue to follow the branch and cluster-based textbooks from the 2012 national curriculum, rather than the revised and updated textbooks released in 2023.

The NCTB notification stated: “Please collect the demand for grades IX and X textbooks from all educational institutions within your region, district, upazila, and thana, and submit it through the new web application within the specified time frame.”

This process is part of the government’s ongoing initiative to ensure the smooth delivery of educational materials to students nationwide.
