NCP vows to continue fight against Mujibism

National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam on Friday called upon citizens across Bangladesh to unite in what he described as a national struggle against “Mujibism and fascism,” vowing to continue the fight until justice, reform, and state reconstruction are achieved.
Speaking at a street rally in front of the Krishi Bank premises in Munshiganj, Nahid said, “We are fighting against Mujibism and fascism-and we believe we will win this fight. We know that another battle lies ahead, and we are preparing for it. We must face it with courage.”
The event was part of NCP’s ongoing “July March”, a countrywide campaign initiated in the wake of last year’s political uprising, aimed at rallying support for justice, structural reforms, and what the party terms a “complete reimagining of the state.”
Referring to recent clashes in Gopalganj-where NCP supporters came under attack allegedly by Awami League loyalists and members of the now-banned Chhatra League-Nahid said, “The fascists attacked us, but they cannot suppress us. We must build a culture of protest in every neighborhood. This is no longer just politics-it is about defending dignity and freedom.”
He urged the public to rise up against what he called a “grave national crisis” marked by violence, state-sponsored terrorism, and collapse of key sectors. “The education and healthcare systems are crumbling. The transport network is broken. There is no employment. People want to overcome these obstacles and live with dignity,” he said.
The rally was chaired by Munshiganj NCP chief coordinator Majedul Islam and attended by several central and regional NCP leaders including Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah, Akhter Hossain, Samantha Sharmin, and Dr. Tasnim Zara.
In a fiery speech, NCP’s organizing secretary Sarjis Alam stressed the need for continued resistance. “We still have a long road ahead to build a country free from exploitation,” he said. “If we give fascists any more room, they will grow more dangerous. We must remain united against the terrorist Awami League. Hasina must be brought to justice.”
The event concluded with prayers at the town’s main Jumma Masjid in remembrance of those who were killed or injured during the July Uprising of 2024, whom the party refers to as “July martyrs.”
The NCP’s July March is expected to continue through the end of the month, with similar rallies and public meetings planned in divisional cities, small towns, and village centers across the country.
