Students and supporters of the National Citizen Party (NCP) began a sit-in protest tonight (8 May) at 10pm in front of the Chief Adviser’s residence in Jamuna, calling for a ban on the Awami League.
A large police presence has been deployed at the scene, with officers working to maintain order and de-escalate tensions.
“We will remain here until a clear roadmap is provided on banning the Awami League,” stated Hasnat during the protest.
Protesters continue to chant slogans demanding the party’s ban.
Earlier in the day, Hasnat posted on Facebook: “We do not align with those who lack a clear commitment to banning the genocidal Awami League.”
