The National Citizens’ Party (NCP) has criticised the state’s inability to provide security for women, calling for immediate action to curb violence and harassment against women and children.

The demand was made at a protest rally held in front of the National Museum in Shahbagh at 4:30 pm on Saturday.

Speaking at the rally, Sarjis Alam, Chief Organiser of NCP’s North unit, said law enforcement agencies must ensure that no one imposes personal beliefs on others.

He warned that if mob culture continues to be used to harass women, it will reflect a failure of law and order. “From now on, we want to see action, not just talk,” he asserted.

NCP Senior Joint Convener Samantha Sharmin emphasized the need for political parties to clarify their stance on women’s rights. “We are looking forward to the report of the commission formed for women,” she said, highlighting the urgency of accountability.

The protest rally was attended by NCP Senior Joint Convener Ariful Islam Adeeb, Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasnim Jara, and Senior Joint Member Secretary Nahida Sarwar Chowdhury Niba, among others.

Earlier, in a statement sent to the media on Friday night, the NCP expressed deep concern over recent incidents of violence against women across the country.

The party demanded swift justice for those involved in such crimes, reiterating its commitment to ensuring safety and cyber security for women.
