The National Citizen Party (NCP) has mobilized its youth and medical wings to provide emergency assistance to those injured in Monday’s tragic Air Force jet crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Diabari.
Party convener Nahid Islam issued the directive shortly after the incident, expressing deep sorrow and concern over the loss of lives and injuries. In a post on the NCP’s official Facebook group, he called on leaders and activists across all units to join rescue efforts, offer medical support to the injured, and coordinate with local authorities.
According to the party, a medical response team led by Dr Abdul Ahad — a physician from Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery — was dispatched to the site. Other team members include Md Abdul Ahad, NCP joint chief coordinator; Khan Muhammad Mursalin, joint chief coordinator of the media cell; Dr Mahmuda Alam Mitu, head of the health wing; and doctors Md Yusuf Jamil Tihan, Monir Hossain, Maruful Islam, and Sabbir Ahmed.
Over 50 injured students have been admitted to various hospitals, including the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, with doctors confirming that most have suffered burn injuries.
The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) said the Bangladesh Air Force’s F-7 BGI training jet crashed just after taking off at 1:06 pm. The aircraft burst into flames upon impact, sending thick smoke billowing into the air.
Eight Fire Service units rushed to the scene and worked to control the blaze.
At least 19 people have been confirmed dead, with fears that the death toll may rise further.
Shah Bulbul, public relations officer at Milestone School and College, confirmed that the aircraft struck the school’s academic building during class hours. “The injured are being pulled out one by one,” he said.
