A clash occurred between two factions of National Citizens Committee (NCP) in front of convener Nahid Islam in Barishal.
The incident took place at a view-sharing meeting at the Barishal Club on Thursday (March 20) night.
Eyewitnesses said that most of the journalists left after speech of Nahid Islam following Iftar.
Then, leaders and activists of the two factions of the party got into a dispute over the formation of their committee in the auditorium of Barishal Club.
During this time, despite repeated requests from the central leaders of the NCP using microphonesto stop them, the clash continued in the presence of convener Nahid Islam.
Wahidur Rahman Shanto, district covener of NCP,said “At that time, Nahid Islam and I were tried to be physically assaulted.”
Yasin Arafat, the organizer of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Barishal Metropolitan Area, was physically assaulted.
Later, when Nahid Islam left the meeting and city after ending his programme, a protest march at Amtala intersection area of Barishal citywas held.
They demanding justice for those who created the unpleasant situationat 11 pm on Thursday (March 20) night.
