The National Citizens Party (NCP) has announced its first round of candidates for the upcoming national parliamentary election. On Wednesday (10 December) at 11 AM, the list was revealed at a press conference at the party’s temporary office in Banglamotor, Dhaka. Two candidates were announced for Narayanganj—constituencies Narayanganj-4 and Narayanganj-5 Abdullah Al Amin and Ahmedur Rahman Tonu. For Narayanganj-4 (Fatullah), the party named Advocate Abdullah Al Amin, the central joint member-secretary and district coordinator of the NCP. His name had been widely discussed from the beginning. Party sources said his nomination was almost certain as no other leader collected nomination forms for this seat. Abdullah Al Amin studied law at the University of Dhaka and is now a practicing lawyer. He has gained strong support among voters through work on issues such as eliminating waterlogging, dengue prevention, campaigning for a metro rail link to Narayanganj, and addressing various civic problems. For Narayanganj-5 (Sadar–Bandar), the nomination went to central committee member Ahmedur Rahman Tonu. Although several names were discussed for this seat, party sources said Tonu’s nomination was also largely expected. The other aspirant for this constituency was the
party’s southern region organizer, Shawkat Ali.
