NCP announces 51-member executive council

Staff Reporter :

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced a 51-member executive council to oversee the party’s activities for the next three months, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Office Secretary Saleh Uddin Sifat said the council was formed with the approval of party Convenor Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, in line with decision No. 2 of the NCP’s 4th general meeting held on April 26.

The new panel, according to an official letter, will remain in place for three months and work alongside the party’s 10-member political council, which is considered the NCP’s highest decision-making body.

Sifat explained that the executive council will supervise the party secretariat, take decisions in emergency situations, and carry out other critical functions.

Besides Nahid and Akhtar, the newly formed council includes Samanta Shermeen, Ariful Islam Adib, Tasnim Jara, Nahida Sarwar Niva, Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah, Nasiruddin Patwary, Abdul Hannan Masud, Nusrat Tabassum, Monira Sharmin, Mahbub Alam, Sarwar Tusher, and Tajnuva Jabeen, among others.

The announcement comes as the NCP, one of the new political forces to emerge after last year’s July Uprising, works to consolidate its organizational structure ahead of anticipated national elections.
