The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Sunday transferred its First Secretary (Taxes Legal and Enforcement) Quazi Abu Mahmud Faisal to Bogura amid serious corruption allegations.
Md Shahiduzzaman, First Secretary of the NBR, signed the notice regarding Faisal’s transfer, which took immediate effect. Faisal has been reassigned to Range-1 in Tax Zone Bogura as an Additional Joint Tax Commissioner (current charge).

Md Moniruzzaman of Range-1 in Tax Zone Bogura was transferred to the NBR office. Moniruzzaman will now assume the role of First Secretary (Taxes Legal and Enforcement), previously held by Faisal.
Faisal faces allegations of amassing a vast amount of illegal wealth, currently under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The ACC has uncovered significant movable and immovable assets belonging to Faisal and his family, allegedly accumulated through corrupt practices.
Following these discoveries, the ACC submitted a petition to the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court. On Thursday, the court ordered the seizure of Faisal’s assets and those of his family members.
The seized assets include a flat in Dhaka, two plots of land totaling 10 kathas, and savings certificates worth 2 crore and 55 lakh taka belonging to Faisal’s wife and other relatives.
Earlier, Matiur Rahman, President of the NBR Customs, Excise, and VAT Appellate Tribunal, was transferred to the Internal Resources Division (IRD) of the Ministry of Finance amid similar allegations of accumulating substantial properties through corruption.
