Md Abdur Rahman Khan, Secretary of the Department of Internal Resources and Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) visited Chattogram Custom House and Chattogram port on Thursday.
The NBR Chairman exchanged views with the senior officials of the two institutions and gave them necessary directives to infuse dynamism to the activities of the port and custom house as well.
Abdur Rahman Khan also interacted with C&F agents and BGMEA leaders on various issues including container jamming, addition of new goods to off dock release list, scanner crisis, destruction of dangerous goods and sluggishness in auctions.
Speaking o the occasion, the NBR chairman stressed on providing timely services to the businessmen for the sake of increasing revenue collection. Although the revenue collection has decreased recently, there will be no shortfall in revenue collection as the government has taken various steps to this end, he added.
Chattogram Port Chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman, Commissioner of Chattogram Custom House Zakir Hossain and senior officials of the two institutions were present during the visit.
Later, a delegation led by BGMEA First Vice-President Syed Nazrul Islam paid a courtesy call on NBR Chairman in the conference room of Custom House here.
