Abul Hasan (Saiful) Islam, a member of the navy, went down while bathing in Muhuri River on Saturday. He is the son of Abul Khair of North Shaldhar village of Chithlia union of the upazila. He was working as a soldier in the Chittagong naval base.
Overwhelmed by the intense heat, he went to bathe at the Ghat adjacent to Nazir’s house on the Muhuri River along with five friends from the area at two in the afternoon on Saturday.
Suddenly he sank under the water. Immediately four friends tried to rescue him but failed. Parashuram informed the members of the fire service. After a long search, it was possible to recover the frozen body after 7 hours. The incident took place in Shaldhar area of Parashuram Upazila Chithlia Union on Saturday.
Despite many searches, the members of the fire service failed to rescue the missing Abul Hasan Saiful. Chittagong’s diving team came quickly to rescue him after being informed.
At 9.30 on Saturday, the Bangladesh Navy team and divers conducted a joint rescue operation and it was possible to recover Saiful’s frozen body after 7 hours. It is known that Saiful Islam is working in the Navy and is at home on leave.
Shahadat Hossain Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Parashuram Model Police Station, confirmed the matter and said that Navy soldier Abul Hasan got perfect after taking a bath. To rescue him, the body of navy soldier Abul Hasan, who drowned in Mahuri river at North Shaldhar Nazir’s house, was recovered after 7 hours by local fire service, Chittagong Divers and Navy team.
