Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has said that the Bangladesh Navy has transformed into a modern, technology-driven, and three-dimensional force capable of addressing the challenges of the 21st century.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the Bangladesh Navy’s Summer Presidential Parade held this morning at the Chattogram Naval Academy.
Highlighting the vital role of the Navy, General Waker-Uz-Zaman said, “The Navy continues to play a crucial role in protecting the country’s maritime sovereignty, securing marine resources, combating maritime crimes, and promoting good governance.”
Addressing the newly commissioned officers, he urged them to uphold honesty, discipline, and self-sacrifice in the service of the nation. “Young officers must always be prepared to safeguard the country’s sovereignty with unwavering commitment,” he said.
The Army Chief reminded the cadets of their sacred duty to the country and called upon them to perform their responsibilities with utmost sincerity. “Discipline and dedication to duty are fundamental to achieving professional excellence and becoming exemplary members of the force,” he added.
At the outset of the event, General Waker-Uz-Zaman inspected the parade in a jeep, receiving salutes from eight platoons of new officers. Following their rigorous training, he presented awards to those who demonstrated outstanding performance.
A total of 52 naval officers were commissioned during the ceremony, including 44 midshipmen and 8 direct entry officers. Among them, 8 are women and 4 are foreign naval officers.
Senior officials from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with high-ranking government officials, local dignitaries, and family members of the new officers, attended the parade.
