Nat’l poet’s 49th death anniv observed

Various programmes were held on Wednesday at Dhaka University to commemorate the 49th death anniversary of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

On the occasion, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niyaz Ahmad Khan, the university’s teachers, students, and staff laid wreaths and offered Fatiha at the poet’s grave, says a press release.

Later, an open discussion session was held at the poet’s graveyard stage, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niyaz Ahmad Khan.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niyaz Ahmad Khan said that the life and literary work of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam teach us to protest against injustice. His writings inspire us to maintain ironclad unity among ourselves by upholding equality, harmony, and peace. He was a man of multiple talents, and this multifaceted nature will continue to be a source of inspiration for generations to come.

At the event, retired Professor Dr. Syed Mohammad Shahed of the Department of Bengali at Dhaka University delivered the memorial speech. The program was conducted by the chairman of the Bengali Department, Professor Dr. Sirajul Islam (Siraj Salekin).
