The National Council of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, held at the Engineering Institution Auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday, concluded with significant leadership appointments and a firm stance on pressing national issues.

Shaikhul Hadis Kazi Muhammad Muin Uddin Ashrafi was elected Chairman, while Dr. Abdullah Al Maruf Shah was appointed Secretary General of the council, says a press release.

Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat leaders emphasised that the true path and opinion of Islam is represented by Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat. They highlighted that Bangladesh is the world’s second-largest Muslim-majority country. However, they expressed concern over the visible domination of anti-Islamic forces within the country. Despite ongoing conspiracies against Islam, the leaders criticised the silence and indifference of state machinery.

The council noted that members of these hostile forces actively participate in state affairs, including policymaking, while the Sufi order of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat remains unfortunately neglected. The leaders warned that such discrimination could cause the state to lose its intended goals.
