The Bangladesh Army has arrested 280 individuals, including several listed suspects, during operations conducted across the country between 20 and 26 March.
This information was disclosed in a media release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday.
Among the arrestees are extortionists, fugitives, robbers, kidnappers, producers of adulterated food, members of teen gangs, individuals accused in the July murder cases, and drug traffickers.
According to the ISPR, the army seized 10 illegal firearms, 143 rounds of various types of ammunition, improvised explosive devices (cocktail bombs), locally and foreign-made weapons, narcotics, stolen passports, mobile phones, tablets, SIM cards, and gold jewellery.
Additionally, vehicles used for criminal activities – including trawlers, motorcycles, trucks, dredgers, excavators, and dumpers – were confiscated, along with a significant amount of cash.
The arrested individuals have been handed over to the respective police stations for further investigation and legal proceedings.
In the lead-up to Eid-ul-Fitr, army personnel are conducting operations to ensure smooth traffic movement and maintain law and order. The public has been urged to report any suspicious activities to the nearest army camp.
