This year’s theme of the day is ‘Those who have no one by their side, have social service (Nei Pashe Kew Jar, Somaj Seba Ache Tar)’.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today issued separate messages wishing success of all the programmes taken on the occasion of ‘National Social Service Day-2025’.

In his message President Mohammed Shahabuddin underscored the need for reaching out benefits of the country’s welfare activities and development to everyone so that security for the destitute and helpless people of society can be ensured, reports BSS.

In his message, Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus said the Department of Social Services of the Ministry of Social Welfare is working tirelessly for the welfare and development of the country’s poverty-stricken, elderly, disadvantaged children, adolescents, widows, women who faces domestic violence, seriously ill patients and marginalized communities, including the helpless people.

It is successfully implementing social safety net programmes in Bangladesh, he added.
The Chief Adviser said this year’s theme of the day titled ‘Those who have no one by their side, have social service (Nei Pashe Kew Jar, Somaj Seba Ache Tar)’, is appropriate and time befitting.
Marking the day, Social Welfare Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid will attend an open discussion as the chief guest on Manik Mia Avenue adjacent to the National Parliament here at 9.30am on Wednesday.

National Social Service Day is a recognition of the selfless contributions of individuals and organizations dedicated to serving society. In 2025, this day is more significant as it highlights the collective efforts to recover from global challenges, including economic instability, social inequalities, and environmental crises.

This day encourages citizens to actively participate in social service initiatives, fostering a culture of volunteerism. It reminds everyone of the power of collective action in addressing societal issues like poverty, education gaps, and healthcare accessibility. In 2025, the day also serves as a tribute to social workers, healthcare providers, educators, and other frontline workers who have made immense contributions to their communities, especially during times of crisis.
