A national seminar titled “Role of Pharmacists in Drug Discovery and Development: Industrial and Regulatory Perspective” was held on Thursday at the initiative of the Pharmacy Discipline of Khulna University (KU). In the morning, Jahangirnagar University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan spoke as the chief guest at the seminar at the university’s journalist Liaquat Ali auditorium.
He said that the importance of pharmacists at every stage of drug discovery and development is immense. The role of skilled pharmacists is important at every stage of research, development, production and regulatory framework. Academic knowledge, research and industry collaboration are very important for the expansion of the pharmaceutical sector in Bangladesh.
He further said that pharmacists should adhere to ethics so that medicines do not harm humans as well as animals. It is also important to be aware that the development of the pharmaceutical industry does not face ethical questions.
