Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus stated on Thursday that the national election in Bangladesh is expected to take place in December.
Speaking during a plenary session at the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai, Yunus indicated that the election would be conducted as soon as possible, with December being the most likely timeframe.
The session, moderated by CNN’s Becky Anderson, was part of the ongoing WGS Conference.
In response to a question, Yunus emphasized the interim government’s primary objectives, which include ensuring public safety and restoring the nation, society, and institutions that he claimed had disintegrated under the previous administration of Sheikh Hasina.
Prof. Yunus arrived in Dubai the night before to attend the summit. Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, the Minister of Sports of the United Arab Emirates, welcomed him to the event.
