National Bar Assoc calls for strengthening constitutional institutions

The President of the Bangladesh National Bar Association, Senior Advocate Shah Md Khasruzzaman, has urged the government to activate and strengthen the country’s constitutional institutions.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Shah Md Khasruzzaman emphasized that if constitutional institutions operate independently, they can significantly contribute to establishing the rule of law and justice in the country.

He also highlighted the need to transform the unity of student lawyers into a supportive force to ensure this progress.

In a separate statement, the Bar Association President addressed the current economic crisis, attributing it to the large-scale smuggling of money abroad. He accused certain politicians, administrative officials, and businessmen of being directly involved in this illegal activity.

To strengthen the nation’s economy, Khasruzzaman called on the government to adopt strategies to repatriate the laundered money.

He argued that doing so would increase the money supply, boost investment in the money market, and accelerate exports, ultimately helping to curb inflation. He stressed that there is no alternative to recovering the laundered funds to lift the country out of its economic recession.
