Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi on Friday morning organized a nationwide event where people sang the national anthem at the same time across the country.

The national flag was also hoisted during this program, and patriotic songs were performed alongside the anthem. This event, a form of protest, comes in response to recent discussions and criticism about changing the national anthem.

Udichi organized the central event in front of the National Press Club in the capital, where pedestrians also joined the artists. Members of other organizations, including Khela Ghar, along with media artists, participated in the event.

On Tuesday, at a press conference, Abdullahil Amaan Azmi, a former military officer and son of former Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ghulam Azam, demanded a change to Bangladesh’s national anthem, calling it incompatible with the spirit of independence. He also raised questions about the constitution’s legitimacy.

This sparked widespread discussions and criticism, leading Udichi to organize the simultaneous singing of the national anthem “Amar Shonar Bangla” in protest.

Udichi’s artists participated in singing the anthem at the same time in all district branches across the country.
The event in the capital began with an opening speech by Prof Badiur Rahman, president of Udichi’s central committee, while General Secretary Amit Ranjan Dey hosted it.

Badiur said the proposal to change the national anthem was a conspiracy by the defeated forces of 1971.
If this proposal was accepted, the group would push further decisions that threatened the nation’s independence and sovereignty, he added.

Speakers at the event said Udichi would resist any conspiracy aimed at undermining the country’s independence.
They emphasized that those conspiring against the national flag and anthem would be regarded with disdain.
