December 15, 1971, marked a turning point in history as the Bengalis stood on the threshold of triumph.

The combined offensive by the Mukti Bahini and Allied forces forced several units of the Pakistani military to capitulate.

On this day, freedom fighters attacked the Pakistani base at Kumira in Chattogram, driving the enemy troops to retreat toward Faujdarhat.

Meanwhile, courageous Bengalis launched another assault in the same area. The advance continued as the Pakistani army suffered a decisive defeat in Hathazari during operations led by the freedom fighters.

On this historic day, Khadimnagar in Sylhet was freed after an intense battle against the occupying forces.

With the successful liberation of surrounding towns and cities, the Mukti Bahini and Allied forces tightened their grip around Dhaka, encircling the capital strategically.
