The Roads and Highways Department (RHD) is responsible for the road construction work of the government and is entrusted with the construction of public roads. Therefore, most of the road development works of the government are implemented through this department. Bangladesh is on the highway of development under the current government. The departments of various ministries of the government are implementing this huge development programmes. Narsingdi RHD is not behind in this direction.
Sajal Kumar Sarkar, sub-divisional engineer of Narsingdi RHD, said, “A total of nine projects have been undertaken in the last seven years. Out of that, seven projects with a cost of Tk 2,962.40 crore have been fully completed and two projects are in progress. The work of these two projects will be completed by June this year. The ongoing projects are the upgrading of Panchdona-Danga-Ghorashal highway to four lanes with separate service lanes on both sides at a cost of Tk 1,489.14 crore and the upgrading of Itakhola-Mathkhola- Katiadi regional road and Nayapara-Araihazar-Narsingdi-Raipur regional road to highways at a cost of Tk 984.84 crore.” “The 100 percent implemented projects are; Ghorashal Station-Dhaladia-Palash (Gabtali)-Fulbaria- Charsindur highway at Tk 41.28 crore; newly-constructed Jihastala-Shekherchar highway at Tk 22.24 crore; Tongi-Kaliganj-Ghorashal-Panchdona regional highway at Tk 72.10 crores; Nayapara-Araihazar-Narsingdi- Raipura regional highway at Tk 61.64 crore; Gazipur- Ajmatpur-Itakhola road at Tk 128.27 crore; Marjal- Belabo and Poradia-Belabo highways at Tk 105 crore, and Itakhola-Mathkhola-Katiadi regional highway at Tk 57.89 crore,” he also said.
At present, Md. Hamidul Islam, a smart engineer with professional experience, is in charge of the Executive Engineer of Narsingdi RHD. He joined the RHD on February 8, 2022. He is serving as Executive Engineer of Narsingdi RHD with honesty, devotion, sacrifice, and efficiency. He is a visionary public officer, admired by all for his dedication and sense of duty. The Narsingdi RHD is working tirelessly for the successful implementation of all the actions announced by the government to achieve the status of a developed and prosperous country by the current government’s vision 2041.
In an interview, Narsingdi RHD Executive Engineer Md. Hamidul Islam said, “Every development work is being com- pleted within the stipulated time while maintaining the quali- ty standards. There is no red-tapism in this department in accepting tenders and issuing letters of acceptance. During Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government, the RHD has set a record in development work, because no other government has implemented so many development projects in the past.” “The RHD has an efficient and experienced manpower.
