All-round performance by Omarzai: Narrow win for Sylhet Titans in BPL Cricket

An all-round performance by Azmatullah Omarzai powered Sylhet Titans to achieve a narrow six-run win over Dhaka Capitals in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Omarzai remained unbeaten with 50 runs. His 24-ball innings was studded with three sixes and five fours. It was the fastest half-century in this year’s BPL edition. Omarzai captured three wickets in the space of 40 runs. Omarzai was adjudged the Man of the Match for his marvelous performance.
Sent into bat first, Sylhet Titans piled up a fighting total of 173 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then restricted Dhaka Capitals to 167 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Sylhet Titans lost their early two wickets for 22 runs.
Then, opener Saim Ayub and Parvez Hossain Emon repaired the damage contributing together 64 runs for the third wicket partnership before Saim Ayub was dismissed by Mohammad Saifuddin when Sylhet’s score was 86 for the loss of three wickets.
Saim Ayub made 29 from 34 deliveries featuring one sixes.
After Saim Ayub’s dismissal, Parvez Hossain Emon could not stay at the crease for a long period as Emon was dismissed by Saif Hassan when Sylhet’s total was 92 for the loss of four wickets.
Emon hit a polished 44. His 32-knock was studded with two sixes and two fours.
After Emon’s departure, Afif Hossain and Omarzai added together 30 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Afif Hossain (13) was bowled out by Salman Mirza when Sylhet’s score was 122 for the loss of five wickets. After Afif’s departure, Omarzai and Ethan Brooks scored together 51 runs in the unbroken sixth wicket stand before Sylhet’s innings came to an end. Salman Mirza bagged two wickets instead of 46 runs, while Saif Hassan, Mohammad Saifuddin and Taskin Ahmed took one wicket apiece.
Later, Shamim Hossain and Sabbir Rahman fought back against the tight bowling attack of Sylhet’s bowlers scoring together 46 runs for the sixth wicket stand before Sabbir Rahman (23) was dismissed by Nasum Ahmed when Dhaka Capital’s score was 89 for the loss of six wickets.
Shamim Hossain remained unbeaten with 81. His 43-ball innings was ornamented with three sixes and nine fours.
After Sabbir’s departure, Shamim Hossain and Taskin Ahmed added together 51 runs for the unbroken ninth wicket partnership before Sylhet innings was concluded.
Nasum Ahmed and Mohammad Amir bagged two wickets each for 26 and 30 runs respectively.
Besides, Mehidy Hasan Miraz took one wicket for 19 runs.
