Dhanmondi Sports Club recorded a narrow four-wicket win over Brothers Union Limited in their first match of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Tuesday.
Sent into bat first, Brothers Union Limited piled up a fighting total of 262 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
In reply, Dhanmondi Sports Club reached the winning target scoring 264 for the loss of six wickets when they had just eight balls to spare.
Nurul Hasan of Dhanmondi Sports Club remained unbeaten with 58. His 53-ball innings was decorated with four fours. Nrurul Hasan was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Fazle Rabbi hit a polished 55. His 78-ball knock was studded with three sixes and one four.
Yasir Ali made 41 from 47 deliveries featuring two fours and two sixes.
Habibur Rahman scored 32 from 30 balls including five fours and one six.
Yasin Arafat was the highest wicket taker of Brothers Union Limited with three wickets for 43 runs.
Earlier, Mahfijul Islam was the highest scorer of Brothers Union.
He notched up a sparkle 84. His 111-ball innings was studded with seven fours and a sixer.
Mizanur Rahman hit a marvelous 73. His 76-ball innings was ornamented with three sixes and seven fours.
Imtiaz Hossain hit an exact 50. His 75-ball knock was laced with five fours.
Kamrul Islam bagged two wickets in the space of 54 runs, while Hasan Murad, Sunzamul Islam and Maruf Mridha took one wicket each.
