Name of Nat’l Museum’s planetarium to be changed

The government has decided to remove the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from the “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre” and the “Bangabandhu Science and Technology Fellowship Trust Act,” according to Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Water Resources.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Advisory Council on Tuesday (March 4). However, details about what specific amendments will be made to these laws were not disclosed.

She further explained that many institutions were named after prominent figures, including families associated with them. As part of this decision, the names of two institutions are being changed.

The name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre and the Bangabandhu Science and Technology Fellowship Trust Act will no longer include “Bangabandhu.”

Additionally, the Advisory Council has also approved the proposal to cancel the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman International Peace Award (Policy-24).

Furthermore, the proposal to observe February 25 as National Martyr’s Army Day has been approved, along with the decision to set office hours for government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous organizations during the month of Ramadan.
