NN Online:

National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has accused “Mujibists” of obstructing his party’s rally in Gopalganj and vowed a strong response, warning that the party would return to reclaim the city if the situation remains unresolved.

Speaking near Municipal Park in Gopalganj on Wednesday, after a series of attacks and acts of vandalism allegedly carried out by Awami League activists, Nahid declared:
“They blocked us today. During the mass uprising, we said if they try to stop us, we will fight—and we did. Now they have done it again. Our response is coming, if God wills.”

He urged NCP supporters and allies to take up the responsibility of defending the ideals of the mass uprising, especially in Gopalganj.
“We will not allow this town to remain a Mujibist stronghold. If law enforcement fails, we will protect our land and our values ourselves—just as we did during the uprising,” he said.

Nahid condemned what he described as historical injustices and discrimination linked to Gopalganj, vowing to reshape the city’s identity under NCP’s vision.
“We want a Bangladesh where no one is denied jobs or dignity for being from Gopalganj. But we will not let Gopalganj become a shelter for extremists,” he added.

He further accused the Awami League of misusing the legacy of the Liberation War, seizing properties belonging to minority communities, and corrupting the values of independence.
“We will defend the rights of all religions in our new Bangladesh,” he said.

Ending with a dramatic warning, Nahid stated:
“If we call, the whole nation will rise and gather in Gopalganj. Today’s attack will not go unanswered. If the issue is not resolved, we will return and liberate Gopalganj from the grip of Mujibists.”
He concluded:
“We will build a democratic Bangladesh—by burying Mujibism and the 1972 Constitution that gave it life.”
