The film ‘Bonolata Sen’ is expected to be released this coming Eid-ul-Fitr. Centered on the imaginary female character created by poet Jibanananda Das, the film has been directed by Masud Hasan Ujjal.
Although the movie was initially scheduled for release last year, the decision was postponed due to the circumstances at the time. Finally, the government-grant-funded film is set to hit theaters this Eid-ul-Fitr.
Masuma Rahman Nabila plays the titular role in the film. However, becoming Bonolata Sen was not easy for her. It is known that she was initially offered a different character, but Nabila declined the proposal.
She clearly informed the director that she wanted to play the character of Bonolata Sen.
Subsequently, she proved her suitability for the role through three rounds of challenging auditions and ultimately secured the character.
In Bonolata Sen, Khairul Basar portrays the role of Jibanananda Das. Other cast members include SohelMondol, Najiba Bashar, Priyonti Urbi, Ruponti Akid, Sharif Siraj, Sumaiya Khushi, among others.
The film received a government grant of BDT 7 million in the 2021-22 fiscal year. The director stated that no effort was spared in making the film. Although it took more time, the work was completed with great care.
Masud Hasan Ujjal said, “Working on Jibanananda Das carries a great sense of responsibility. Research, preparation, and finding suitable actors-the entire process was very challenging. Preparing everyone for the film was also a major task.
We rehearsed for a long time. A large part of this film involved production design. It took a lot of time to create the cinematic look I wanted to see on screen.”
