Mystery shrouds over triple murder
Khulna Correspondent :
The mystery surrounding the brutal triple murder in Darvesh Molla Gali in Khulna’s Luantchara area is getting more complicated.
Although no accused has been identified yet in the murder of children Mostakim (8), Fatiha (6) and their grandmother Mohitunnesa Begum, the family members of the two deceased children are not being excluded from the list of suspects.
On Tuesday, the father of the two children, Shefar Ahmed, filed a case against unknown accused at the Luantchara police station.
Although one of the family members was taken into custody for questioning, the police did not reveal his identity for the sake of investigation.
The statement mentioned that at 9:20 am on Sunday, Shefar Ahmed left his two children with his mother-in-law and went to work. In the afternoon, he took his daughter Fatiha to the hospital for dental treatment and returned home.
In the evening, when his wife Ruby Akhter returned from work, there was no response when she knocked on the main gate of the house.
Later, he opened the gate and entered the house, finding the electricity disconnected and the door locked.
When Shefer Ahmed returned home, he first saw his mother-in-law Mohitunnesa lying in a pool of blood next to the chicken farm.
Two children were lying unconscious next to her. When they were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital, the doctors declared both of them dead.
Shefer Ahmed alleged that he had been in a land dispute with his cousin Shamim Ahmed for a long time, which had reached the court.
He also claimed that Shamim had tried to seize the land by making forged documents.
He also said that Shamim was once arrested by the Rupsha Police Station with a weapon and is currently on bail.
Shefer claimed that drug trafficking is also active in their area, which could be involved in this murder.
Multiple sources involved in the investigation said that the children’s mother Ruby Akhter had been giving misleading information since the beginning of the investigation.
The investigation agencies consider these things suspicious, such as not crying even once in three days, not coming before the police and repeatedly highlighting their educational qualifications.
It is known that some people in the family are not saying anything publicly due to pressure.
Sources said that first, children Mostakim and Fatiha were killed. Their grandmother was taking a bath in the bathroom. Later, when she came out, she was also killed.
The initial suspicion of the police is that the triple murder took place sometime after noon.
The two children were hit on the head with a brick. This information was confirmed by the officer-in-charge of the Luanchara police station, Hawladar Sanwar Hussain Masum.
OC Masum said that important evidence, including blood-stained bricks, has been collected from the scene. Fingerprint tests are underway.
Although the family dispute is initially given importance, investigations are underway in all aspects, starting from land and deposits to drug involvement.
