A mysterious incident took place at IFIC Bank in Kuliarchar branch of Kishoreganj on Sunday afternoon. At least Six employees including Branch Manager suddenly fell ill and started vomiting one by one. Police rescued them and sent them to the hospital.
The police’s initial suspicion is that a criminal gang may have been planning to rob the bank by using anesthetics at the branch.
Locals said that the IFIC Bank branch is located on the second floor of Habib Complex at Thana Road in Kuliarchar town. The branch has been operating there for three years. There are six officers and employees there.
Sunday noon, some customers went and saw one person lying in front of the main gate. Others were also lying in their respective positions inside. They were all vomiting. Later, people around came running after hearing their screams. The police were informed. When the police arrived, they found the glass in front of the cash counter broken. Out of the six, branch manager Soumik Zaman Khan and security guard Kamal Hossain were taken to the Upazila Health Complex.
The others were taken to Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital. The manager and security guard were given first aid and sent to Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital.
UHFPO Dr.Adna said that , “Of the two, the manager was brought to the hospital first. He was unconscious. After being brought to the hospital, both of them vomited. They believe that they may have been rendered unconscious by applying special drugs.”
Additional SP (Crime & DSB) Mahamudul Islam told the New Nation that, Police arrived at the scene, and an investigation is underway to find out who, why and how the incident occurred.
