Music: Muza-Sanjana’s new song ‘Maiyya’

A new song by US-based musician Muja has been released. The pop-qawwali fusion based song titled ‘Maiyya’ features London-based artiste Sanjana singing with Muza.

The song, which has lyrics like ‘Maiyyar Kotha Aamar Eto Bhalo Lagilo/ Pola, Aamar Kotha Shuina Prem Jagilo’, is jointly written by Badhon and Muza. The music has been arranged by musician Muza.

Muza said that the lyrics of the song try to emphasise a woman’s personality over her beauty.

He said, “We are usually obsessed with someone’s beauty. After talking, that liking can increase even more because of the personality. That’s what we wanted to put in the lyrics.”

Regarding the creation of the song ‘Maiyya’, Muza said, “The song was made keeping in mind various festivals, especially the wedding season.

It is very special to me because no echo or reverb effect was used in my voice in the song.

I wanted to give the audience a new voice. The song is of the pop genre, with a touch of qawwali.”

Sanjana said, “We have known each other since the release of Muja’s first song. The beginning of the creation of the song ‘Maiyya’ was like a scene from a movie.

Suddenly, someone opened the door of the dark studio and came out, we exchanged greetings, and then we started working on the song.”

The song ‘Maiyya’ has been choreographed by Ridy Sheikh. She choreographed Muja’s first song in 2018.

They have worked together again after seven years. Ridi Sheikh said, “Since it is a wedding season song, I have planned it that way.

Not only the dance moves are important here, but the set design, costumes, lighting, number of dancers is important elements. So, emphasis has been placed on everything.” The song has been released on Muza’s YouTube channel.
