The team did not win. However, Bangladesh’s ‘Cutter Master’ Mustafizur Rahman did his job brilliantly. On Saturday, Mustafiz played his first match in the United Arab Emirates International League (IL) T20.
In his debut match, he took 2 wickets for 26 in 4 overs with the ball. Not only bowling, but also taking two catches in fielding. Even then, his team Dubai Capitals lost to Gulf Giants by 4 wickets.
Batting first in Dubai, Dubai Capitals scored 160 runs. Chasing that run, Gulf Giants won with 7 balls and 4 wickets in hand. Mustafiz got a wicket with his first ball. He picked up Gulf opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz in his first ball of the second over of the innings.
Fiz got a wicket even after coming to bowl in the second spell. In the 12th over, Mustafiz dismissed Pathum Nishanka with the first ball of the over. Nishanka played a real tornado that day. Mustafiz brought some relief to the Capitals camp by dismissing that dangerous Lankan.
Mustafiz then came back in the last over of the power play. He could have gotten a wicket with the last ball of this over too. James Vince took a catch with his ball. But David Willey, who was standing at backward point, could not take the catch, and instead turned it over for four. 10 runs came from that over. And it was Vince who later scored an unbeaten fifty and left the field with the team winning.
