Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das have donated their prize money to the flood victims in Bangladesh after the historic win over Pakistan.
Bangladesh veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim shined with the bat in the first Test against Pakistan, leading Bangladesh to a 10-wicket victory in Rawalpindi on Sunday.
The right-hander scored 191 runs from 341 balls, marking the highest individual score in the match and helping Bangladesh secure a significant first-innings lead of 117 runs, while Litton also made a crucial 56 runs for the Tigers.
Mushfiq, who is now the longest-serving active Test player globally, was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding performance.
Mushfiq announced that he would donate his Player of the Match prize-money and Litton posted about his donation on his social media handle for the flood victims.
“I want to make an announcement, want to donate my prize money as there’s been flood back in Bangladesh,” Mushfiq said after receiving the award, a prize-money of three lakh rupees.
He also felt this was one of the best knocks in his career so far and thanked the management for the way they were able to prepare ahead of this Test match.
“This is one of my finest (knocks) so far because we haven’t done that well overseas. All the players prepared well in Pakistan and back home as well. Before the Test series, there was a two-and-a-half-month gap. All the players and management were there, the other white-ball players were playing in the World Cup. I’m thankful to the coaching staff and management,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Tigers Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto dedicated the historic Test win against Pakistan to the ones who were martyred in the anti-quota student movement recently in Bangladesh as he made the announcement after the match in the post-match presentation in Bangla: “I dedicate this victory to those who lost their lives in the recent anti-discrimination student movement.”
