It has been decided to replace Moulana Farid Uddin Masud, Ex-DG of Islamic Foundation, the Imam of the 300-year-old traditional Sholakia Eidgah Kishoreganj, and appoint Maulana Abul Khair Md. Saifullah again.
This decision was made at the Eid Jamaat preparation meeting held at local Collectorate conference room on Sunday noon, while Deputy Commissioner (DC) , also President of Sholakia Eidgah managing committee Fouzia Khan in the chair. This information was confirmed by Eidgah Committee General Secretary Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Ershad Mia.
After the Awami League came to power in 2009, Maulana Saifullah was replaced by Islahul Muslimeen Bangladesh Chairman Maulana Farid Uddin Masud as the Imam. Imam Saifullah is the younger brother of Waliullah Rabbani, the then general secretary of the district BNP. It was alleged that this was the reason he was dropped. However, Imam Saifullah is not associated with any politics. There was always a demand for his reinstatement.
Mufti Moulona Md. Saifullah told the New Nation that, he had been serving as imamate at Sholakia since 2004. He was removed from the imamate on September, 02,2009.
