MP Anar murder Mintu placed on 8-Day remand: DB

The Detective Branch (DB) of police has revealed that Saidul Karim Mintu, the general secretary of the Jhenaidah district Awami League, was involved in a financial transaction related to the murder of MP Anwarul Azim Anar. This disclosure came as part of the investigation into the high-profile case.

On Thursday (June 13), Assistant Commissioner Mahfuzur Rahman of the DB, who is also the investigation officer in the case, produced Mintu in court with a ten-day remand prayer. During the remand hearing, it was stated that Shimul Bhuiya, alias Amanullah Sayeed, one of the prime suspects, had implicated Mintu in his confessional statement regarding MP Anar’s murder.

The murder case was filed by MP Anar’s daughter, Mumtarin Ferdous, at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station on the evening of May 12. Subsequent arrests in the case included Shimul Bhuiya alias Amanullah Sayeed, Tanveer Bhuiya, and Sylista Rahman, all of whom have given confessional statements and are currently in jail.

Additionally, on June 9, Kazi Kamal Ahmed Babu, the Jhenaidah District Awami League Relief and Social Welfare Secretary, was remanded by the court for seven days.
