BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Moyeen Khan has been detained from Uttara in the capital at the noon while he was participating the party’s black flag procession, party’s leaders claimed it. Later, he was released from Uttara West Police Station at around 3pm on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, police refused Dr. Moyeen’s arrest news saying he was just escorted to home and kept refrain from joining the black flag march.
Confirming the matter, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)’s Uttara Zone’s additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Mirza Salahuddin said police released Moyeen Khan.
He was neither detained nor arrested. He was picked up from a procession for ‘his own safety.’
Besides, the BNP alleged police attacks on their black flag march in the capital and about 50 of the party’s leaders and activists were arrested on Tuesday from different spots in Dhaka.
Earlier in the day, the BNP claimed that Dr. Moyeen Khan was detained from their black flag procession in Uttara’s sector-12 grave yard.
The programme was organised to press home their demands, including price hike of commodities, and the release of party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and other political prisoners.
BNP chairperson’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar informed it to the media.
The party also alleged that about 50 of the party men arrested from their black flag march programme in different places including Uttara, Mirpur and Badda in the capital.
