Educo Bangladesh and ESDO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with six leading employers to enhance job opportunities for underprivileged youth under the LIFT project.

The MoU was signed on Monday with Navana CNG, Pran-RFL Group, Badhon Group, CCLUB Resort & Convention Hall, Bhawal Resort, and Aziz Air Services.

Through this partnership, the project will support disadvantaged youth aged 16 to 22 from 10 Thanas in Dhaka city by equipping them with relevant technical and soft skills aligned with current job market demands.

The initiative is part of the “Leveraging Youth Employment in Bangladesh through Improving Their Employability and Competitiveness to Fit with the 21st Century Job Market (LIFT)” project. It aims to empower 300 marginalised young people with the competencies needed to access decent and sustainable employment.

Speaking at the event, Afzal Kabir Khan, Manager of Child Labour Elimination at Educo Bangladesh, said, “LIFT is a transformative project offering six months of skill-based training followed by job placement. It is designed to improve not only individual lives but also contribute to national development.”

Faruk Hossen, Project Coordinator at ESDO, shared updates on the project’s progress, while Shahriar Mahmud, Head of TVET at ESDO, underscored the critical role of technical education in developing a skilled human resource base.

Employer representatives commended the initiative, noting the increasing demand for trained manpower. They encouraged Educo to continue such efforts.

Trainees and their guardians also expressed optimism, stating that the project opens doors to better livelihoods and long-term socio-economic advancement.
