A mother and her daughter died of electrocution in Fatullah,
Narayanganj, on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 7:30
PM in the Shiyachar Borobari area under Fatullah Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Rokhsana (50), wife of Amir Hossain,
and their daughter Lamia (22), both residents of Shiyachar Borobari.
According to locals, water had accumulated behind their house, and a
motor pump was installed to drain it. On Saturday evening, Rokhsana
tried to switch on the pump using electricity from inside the house. As
soon as she touched the motor, she was electrocuted.
Seeing her mother in distress, Lamia rushed to save her, but she too was
electrocuted. Locals rescued them and rushed them to Khanpur Hospital
in the city, where doctors declared both dead on arrival. The tragic news
cast a pall of grief over the entire area.
Confirming the incident, Shariful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of
Fatullah Model Police Station, said police were sent to the hospital upon
receiving the report. The bodies of the mother and daughter are being
kept at Khanpur Hospital.
